Liesbeth Koning is a seasoned Montessori educator, program designer, and adolescent guide with over two decades of experience in youth education and leadership development. She currently serves as a Junior High Generalist at Marin Montessori School in Corte Madera, California, where she teaches 7th–9th grade students in math and English, leads book groups and workshops, facilitates the theater program, and serves as an academic advisor. Since joining the school in 2012, she has also taught science and humanities and served as Interim Director.

Liesbeth holds a B.A. in Education from Western Michigan University and an M.A. in Educational Leadership from Fort Hays State University. She received her Montessori Adolescent Orientation through NAMTA and continues to deepen her Montessori practice through specialized training, including Whole School Management, Designing the Montessori Adolescent Classroom, and Group Facilitation.

Beyond the classroom, Liesbeth has served as an Adolescent Program Trainer for the Center for Guided Montessori Studies, where she designed and produced a widely-used video training series on science education for Montessori guides. Her international experience includes two years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Thailand, where she co-taught English, led youth leadership and HIV/AIDS education initiatives, and developed teacher training resources used by educators nationwide.

A passionate advocate for experiential education, Liesbeth has also taught middle and high school English, science, and theater in both urban and rural school settings. She brings a collaborative spirit, strong organizational skills, and a deep commitment to adolescent development to every role she takes on.

Liesbeth remains an active learner and leader in the Montessori community, with a focus on project-based learning, cross-cultural communication, and supporting both students and adults in reaching their full potential.
