Barbara Koning is a seasoned Montessori Educator with over 40 years of experience in public Montessori education. Barbara obtained her B.S. from Grand Valley State University and later her Masters in Education with a Reading focus. She is trained and certified in the 6-9, 9-12 and adolescent and has taught in all 3 areas.  Through her years of teaching, Barbara has been team leader for the 6-9 and 9-12, obtained grants for the school to yearly experience the city orchestra,  brought in the Sanfords with a grant for their Children’s Opera and substituted for the principal when needed. Before retiring from the public sector, Barbara also was a HOS for a charter Montessori. 

Once retired, Barbara found that Montessori couldn’t stop running through her veins and she joined the Center for Guided Montessori Studies, where she is an Instructional Guide, Practicum Advisor, Field Consultant and Residency Instructor. She is also currently on the School Accreditation for the International Montessori Council.

Barbara is proud to be a Montessori parent to Liesbeth, Alex and Eric and a Montessori grandparent to Kit, age 14 and Phoenix, age 11.
